To support Writing at home, you may want to give students practice prompts and ask them to move through the Writing process, from prewriting/brainstorming to drafting, revising/editing and creating a final copy. Here are some "TAKS-type" prompts that would be good to use.
"Write a composition about a time you felt proud."
"Write a composition about a time you made a new friend."
"Write a composition about one of your heroes."
"Write a composition about being brave."
